Mon – So this was the first sitting on my friend Stu, who had design his own tattoo and it was really cool – a sacred heart and scroll with a gambling theme :)  we decided together to bring some really funky colours to this tattoo, with a nice chunky sculpted outline :) So, once I got the placement he wanted on his leg, I got on with the outline and script in the scroll! Once that was done, I started with the heart and I had sooo much fun – I got to mix some beautiful colours to bring depth and shape.  The last thing I got done in this session was some light water shading in the scroll, and then the time was up!  I was gutted that I didn’t have more time but it’s something to look forward to in the next sitting :)  Stu was a great sitter – didn’t move and let me do my thing with the colours :) couldn’t ask for more :)

Tue – This was the second sitting on re-doing Kens’ tribal piece he has on his arm. I love tattooing Ken – we have a right giggle and now that we’re in the new studio, Nick was tattooing behind me and there was just a great atmosphere! Everyone was laughing and joking, and it felt really good to tattoo alongside my dad  :)  The session consisted of re-colouring the black in Kens existing tribal, as it had gone patchy with age.  I want to thank Ken for being such a great customer and friend, I wasn’t feeling great during this session as I had a pain in my side and he was super sweet!

Walk-in

I haven’t been in work for two weeks as I was taken to hospital Wed and I had my appendix out, so I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for my ‘Get Wells’ :)  I feel loads better and I can’t wait to get in the chair again and tattoo :) God I’ve missed it!!

Tues 10th April – So back to work – this sitting was on a customer called Leslie, who wanted a really girly swirly design on her shoulder with her daughter’s name. So, once we got the placement right, I cracked on with the outline and the script – she really wanted to have red in the hearts so I shaded them with a little shiny point to add a bit of shape, and then we were done! She was so happy with her tattoo – so I was super pleased :)

Wed 11th April – This was a long awaited tattoo on a family friend Lynda aka Mrs DVD :) Lynda wanted a mixture between a tattoo style jewellery and flowers to go in-between her shoulders, so after we picked the placement I got to work on the outline! I started with the flowers getting a blue mix that was just beautiful :) Once the basic shape of the tattoo was there, I started adding the characters like the beads and jewellery. Lynda wanted blues and pinks, so that’s what we did :)  Last thing to do was to add shape with some shading. I absolutely loved doing this tattoo – Lynda is one of the most amazing people, so getting to do this for her was the best feeling, especially to see how happy she was with it! Best customer! Never moved – lots of laughter and much love! So – big thank you to her for giving me the chance to do this for her! :)

Thurs 12th April – Another session on Tim blue flames :) So in this session, I finished off the lighter shade of blue through the flames, then, it was time to add the darker blue from the centre of the flame, shading out! Tim is loving how the colours are coming together :) And I know I say it every time, but I didn’t want to stop tattooing when the end of the session came – I was enjoying it too much ha! But, we still have a way to go, so I have plenty to do :) Tim’s always a fun customer, and I love getting to tattooing him so thanks Tim you’re a star :)

Mon 26th March – So this was the 1st sitting on a long- time customer and family friend, who we know as Uncle Bryan:)  He wanted to get a really cool design from the shop, which was a crying woman/ angel, with red hair sat on some gothic looking stone work!  Once we picked the right spot, I got on with the basic outline, moving on to the darker sections of shading in the gloves and bodice. Then I added lighter shades  to create shape and depth to the stone and hair. Tattooing Uncle Bryan was so funny – not only has he the best stories of his younger years, but then he literally fell asleep :0 never yet had I had a customer fall asleep while I was tattooing them haha!  Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time in this session to finish this cool piece, but it just means I get to tattoo Uncle Bryan again soon :) I can’t wait to get the red in the hair – I think that next session will really finish this piece nicely :)  Big sorry to say I have no pics for this section, but he is in next blog so check it out for the next session pic :)

Tues 27th March – This sitting was on one of the nicest ladies I have ever met!  She and her husband have been coming to our studio for a while, and she asked me to do the cutest little cat on a broom stick to go on her shoulder, so after getting the outline done, I started on the colouring in.  Black first in the body of the cat, then brown in the broom stick, followed by blue in the eyes and pink in the ears and nose.  Then I started yellow in moon and stars, followed by a little orange highlighting! And then it was done :) This was a really enjoyable little tattoo to do – Karen didn’t move a muscle bless her and such a great character so I can’t wait to do another on her :)

Well, that’s it from me for this studio – lots of memories made here!  The last day will be odd to say the least, but the excitement for the new studio is sooo massive, I don’t think I’ll shed a tear – ha!

Tue 20th March – So this session was the 1st sitting on family friend Rhys, who wanted a large koi carp on his leg. This was a big outline for me, so I was a little unsure with my timing before hand, but as soon as I got the transfer on and started outlining, I was on a little misson! ha loved this sitting – after I finished the outline I sculpted the koi fish itself, making it look bolder than the cherry blossoms and so coming to the end of the sitting I was disappointed I didn’t have time to start the colour! But it gives me something exciting to look forward to for the next session! Big thanks to Rhys – you were a great customer, I cant wait till next time to get some vibrant colour in there:)

Wed 21st March – This was the 1st session on a friend who wanted an eagle on his shoulder blade, and so after picking the right shape and size, I got the transfer on and started the outline.  After the basic outline, I added the bits of detail that will make a difference to the end tattoo, and then started doing all the black sections of shading in the wings, tummy, face and claws.  I really liked this design and I was excited to do a bird tattoo as it was my 1st, and I really enjoyed it – I didn’t want the session to end – I can’t wait to get the colour in there, but I’m happy with how the tattoos looking so far, and my customer was really liking it so far, so bring on the next session and lets get the fab shades of brown in there :)

 

Sun 25th March – I had two appointments today, so my 1st customer was someone who has been sort of collecting tattoos from everyone in the studio, and he came to me wanting his partners name on his chest.  After picking the placement that he liked best, I got started on the script – although this doesn’t appear to be a difficult tattoo, script is one of the hardest things to tattoo.  I gave myself plenty of time, but was surprised that I finished it a little early, so looking at his chest I asked whether he was happy for me to add a small bit of shadow with the script, and he was well up for it! Once the shading was done the tattoo was complete:) I was really happy with the way it looked after adding the shading – gave it a little kick and he loved it, so I couldn’t ask for more :)

My second customer was Shelly – you may remember her from a few weeks ago who had the outline of a large butterfly ribbon design on her back. This was the colouring session, and I couldn’t wait – I started with adding the multiple shades of blue in the wings and ribbon, then the multiple shades of pink.  After that, I added the yellow and orange to the body and ribbon flicks – I really loved the colours in this design, I think they really bounce off each other:) adding the white was the last bit and then we were done:) Shelly loved her new tattoo, and I super enjoyed this tattoo – amazingly lovely woman and beautiful tattoo design! Best part of the job is seeing someone so happy with something you have done :) Massive thank you to her you’re a special lady! :)

Mon 12th March – So this sitting was on a customer of the shop, who had read my blog and came in wanting to get a black and grey rose on his arm.  I was excited because on the same arm I was going to tattoo, Jerry had already done a tribal piece on the top of his arm – Carl had done a black and grey cross on his inner forearm, and then Nick (my daddy) had done a black and grey angel on his outer forearm.  After picking the right spot, I got on with the outline. After that, I gave shape to the tattoo by adding black then different shades of grey, finishing with highlights! I really enjoyed doing this tattoo. I loved the design and the style of this tattoo, but it was also a nice feeling to add a piece of art to the same customer that so many members of our studio had also tattooed :) My customer really loved his tattoo and wants to get some more so I was chuffed :)

Tue 13th March – This sitting was cool as I got to tattoo another piece on a customer I tattooed weeks ago – it was a set of wings around a portrait Nick had done. This time, he wanted a black and grey rose with a scroll cutting through with his sons name on it! This sitting was nice for me because I got to use a few different techniques and machines to create the tattoo, so I really enjoyed it plus he had it pretty big on the back of his forearm, so a nice space to work with:) As always outline and script done first, followed by my multiple shades of black, grey and white.  I was really happy with how it turned out and my customer was super impressed so I had a huge grin. Although I aim to do my best with every tattoo I do, there’s always a bit more pressure when its meaningful to the customer and I was just so happy he liked it :)

Wed 14th March – This was a tattoo I have been wanting to do for a while, I tattooed Phil a friend of mine back when I first started my apprenticeship – it was a new school style cats head with a crown, and we planned on doing an owl in the same style with a monocle and pipe, and I finally got to start it:) Because Phil worked until later than I would normally start tattooing, I knew I wouldn’t get this piece finished, so I got as much done as I could in the time we had.  I started with a nice bold outline then shaded the moustache, followed by colouring in the eye and pipe section, then adding the black shading to certain parts of the owls face and eye socket.  Then the bit I was most looking forward to  doing, which was adding the cool shading in the monocle :) really happy with the way the tattoo is looking and so was Phil :) just can’t wait for the next session so we can get the really funky colours in it :)

Thurs 15th March – So this sitting was a touch up on me Aunty Shell – some of you might remember the large funky black cat I did with purple webbing around on the leg of one of our close family friends Shelly a few weeks ago:) I love tattooing me Aunty Shell, because when we get started chatting we don’t stop ha She came in for a second pass over the black and I was really happy with how bold this tattoo is! She loves it so it was nice to get to see it up close again :)

Mon 5th March – So this sitting was a little stressful at first – I had a cancellation, so I had to call round my customers to see if anyone could be brought forward – it stared looking dire, but luckily my friend Craig who I’m currently doing a leg sleeve on, was able to get inked:) Craig sent me a pic of what he wanted.  I got it drawn out and thankfully Craig liked the size as it slotted in nicely on his shin, slightly behind parts of the other tattoos I have done already.  So the design was a cool old school anchor with a skull and cross bones in front, with rope wrapping around.  Once I got the placement correct and the out line done, I began shading the relevant sections of the tattoo with black -  all of the tattoos I have done on his leg have been in black and grey of varying shades, and I was glad when Craig asked for a dash of colour in this one :) Unfortunately, I didn’t get this finished in this sitting, but I cant wait for the next session and I think the tattoo will really come together :) Big thanks for helping me out by coming in early Craig your a star :)

Tue 6th March – I was really exited about this sitting, my mate and customer of the shop Picco wanted a lotus flower with an eyeball in the centre tattooing on his arm.  After drawing it up, I showed Picco and he loved it, and was happy for me to do bright colours :) Once he was happy with the placement, I got to work on the outline sculpting it into this cool bold shape.  After that, I added the multiple shades of greens and pinkie/purples to the petals. Then I added dark and light shades of green to the iris, and ending with white highlights, shadows and red veins to the eye ball.  I was really chuffed with how the tattoo looked – the colours were vibrant which was what I wanted for this piece, and Picco was ultra excited! He is one of the nicest guys and a great sitter so thank you Picco :)I know we have more planed so I cant wait :)

Wed 7th March – So this sitting was ace – first its an extra tattoo I got to do this week, but second because I got to tattoo Carl (one of the tattooist in our studio plus long ass time close family friend!!!!)I was so excited as I had asked Carl a while ago if he wanted anything done by me, and so he had drawn up this cool sugar skull! He wanted it on the back of his calf, slotted between two exciting tattoos, one of which my big sis Baby Jane tattooed on him back in the day when she was an apprentice :):) now you can see why I was so excited right? ha Well after getting the outline done, Carl had a few specifics he wanted, but after that I had free rain so I picked the sections I wanted in black and those I wanted shading. I have to say I love tattooing Carl, not only is he the perfect sitter, with awesome skin, but I got to chat tattoo lingo with him which was fun – I was gutted when the session finished as I was just enjoying it so much, but I’m super happy with how its looking so far and Carl was impressed which made me super duper happy!:) Thhhhanks Carl – you’re the bomb can’t wait to get it finished for you :)

Sun 11th March – I know I sound overly cheesy this week, but this was also a faaaaab sitting as I got to tattoo Me Donna!!!! for those of you unsure who this is, this girly is my big sis Baby Jane’s bezzie and practically big sis no.2 :) Donna wanted this funky treble clef, bass clef, music note scramble design on her foot (some would say if she loved me at all she would have chosen any other part of her body than her dammed foot, as of my ridiculous phobia but that’s bloody sisters for ya :p) So after doing the outline, I began filling in the black sections and then it was done :) I was happy with how the tattoo looked on the skin, the shape fit well and me Donna was chuffed, so I was chuffed!!!  Although she didn’t move, I know this was a tender tattoo for her so thanks for letting me tattoo you sexy lady – your hard as nails :D love ya!!

So what a week I have had:) I got more sittings, I got to tattoo some of my all time favourite people, and got to do some really funky tattoos! I know I sounds super cheese but it was just a real good week Big Thanks to all of you :) Big smiles!!

Mon 27th Feb – So this sitting was really cool as I got to tattoo Kayleigh, she is a good friend and customer of our shop, but more than that, this lovely lady posts my blogs for me every week as I am computer illiterate haha and so, getting to tattoo her was a great little gesture of thanks from me for helping me out week after week! So now you know the background of the tattoo you can imagine I was a tad nervous, also Kayleigh had picked a fairly difficult little design to go on her foot!!! (For those of you who don’t know, I have an unusual and irrational fear or phobia of FEET!! Odd I know, but there you have it) So after placing the transfer where she wanted the tattoo, and covering up those dreaded toes, I began to do the outline and then coloured it in, having such fierce concentration made me forget I was tattooing a foot all together and I was really happy with how it turned out! But most importantly, Kayleigh loved it so I was over the moon! Big thanks again babe your a star and great little sitter, not a movement :) xx

Tue 28th Feb – This sitting was on Shelly another friend and customer of the shop, who asked if I would do this pretty butterfly in between her shoulder blades.  Once the design was drawn up and sized, we figured out the correct placement, Nick showed me another technique on placing the transfer in the correct place.  Then I began the outline – there are so many aspects that go into the whole processes of tattooing, that are all so majorly important as the next to enable the tattooist to create a good piece of art on that persons skin! When you find one of those aspects change you have a much more difficult tattoo to do! This was a hard sitting for me, as my customer was struggling with the pain which I didn’t like (tattoos hurt – there’s no point twisting it, but different parts of the body feel so much worse, depending on the individual) The outline was large and so after the outline was done we decided to call it a night, I was happy with the shape and I cant wait to get the bright girly colours in there! Shelly was chuffed with how her butterfly is looking so far, so roll on the next sitting :) x

Mon 20th Feb – So this was a great sitting – I got to tattoo a female friend, who wanted a girly pink and purple lily on her shoulder.  Once I put the transfer on her shoulder, I stared the outline. I sculpted the lines to create a bolder outline. After that, I started doing the shading, adding dark and light shades of pinks and purples to give depth and shape to the petals, followed by the centre of the lily adding yellow to the stems and two shades of brow to the pollen pieces.  I was so over the moon with how the tattoo looked – I couldn’t believe I had done it, and when I showed Nick he said that he was extremely happy with my work and was proud of my work!:) my customer loved her tattoo so I couldn’t be happier.

Tue 21st Feb – This was a great sitting, as I got to tattoo another female friend who had asked for a funky idea – she wanted three maple leaves on her shoulder but in bright colours! So after placing the three transfers where she wanted them, I began the outline, sculpting each one as I went along, followed by the colour. My customer wanted red, golden yellow and green, so I started with the red, using two shades – after the red, I coloured in the golden yellow using three shades to create the colour she wanted.  Then last was the green again, using two shades to create the look we were after, once the colour was done, Nick recommended I place a shadow under certain sections of each leaf, which I think really finished off the tattoo! My customer loved her tattoo and I was over the moon with how it looked and I super enjoyed this sitting :)

Sun 26th Feb – So this sitting was another session on Tim Blue Flames :) I was exited to see Tim’s leg all healed up, as I had finally completed the darker shade of blue last session and this session was the first sitting on the next, slightly lighter shade of blue! There is not much I can tell you about this sitting, as I was doing only solid colour but I did get to mix up my colours myself, which was cool and as always had a real laugh with Mr sarcasm :) Although there is a long way to go, I am happy with how the tattoo is progressing. Tim’s the best customer, never moves, always funny and most of all, for a large piece like this, super patient – so big thank you Tim you’re a star! :)

Mon 13th – This was an awesome sitting for me, as it was on my first customer that I didn’t know, and also my first piece of script! Nick helped me with my placement, and showed me a technique on how to ensure a straight transfer- after that it was up to me! I started with the outline and followed with the in fill.  There is not much I can tell you about this one to be fair, as it looks like a basic tattoo but script is a very difficult thing to tattoo, and I was so proud to see it completed! My customer was chuffed but Nick was over the moon and gave me a huge compliment that really meant everything! :) I was very very happy!

Mon 6th Jan – So this session was on Ken, a customer who years ago had a tribal sleeve done by Nick.  Due to Ken’s skin, he needed it touching up and so we decided the best way to go about it, would be to re-colour the whole thing, otherwise there would be a clear shade difference.  So for his first sitting, we started with re-outlining the whole thing (which is much harder than it seems) then began on the re-colouring.  It will take a few sittings to fully re-colour this old tattoo, but it will be worth it! – and for me in the mean time, is great practice! Getting large areas of nice solid colour may seem simple, but can easily be done badly and so I welcome the challenge :) As a bonus, Ken sits really well and we had a right laugh so I can’t wait for our next sitting! :)

Tue 7th Jan – I was sooo excited about this sitting – it was the last session on Matts leg, the gambling piece I had stared a few weeks ago! I got a lot of the black and grey shading work done in the last sitting, so this time I finished off the scrolls and cards, then the bit I was looking forward to the most was adding a really vibrant beautiful blue to the rose! This was Matts only request, as everything was up to me but his “must be a electric blue rose” was key, and so I went to town with it using four shades of blues to really make the tattoo pop! The last thing to do was add white highlights, and white in the mist and then I was done! I was soo happy with how the tattoo looks, but Matt was over the bloody moon which just brought the biggest smile to my face, an the best feeling ever is to see how happy someone is by something you have created. Big thanks to Matt – great sitter, great skin, great convo and great laughs so thank you for a great session:)

Sun 12th Jan – Today was fab because I got to tattoo my friend Craig. Piece by piece we have been adding awesome tattoo designs to his leg, which will end in a funky leg sleeve:) So in this sitting, we got two roses on – I began with the outline, then sculpted it to give definition in the shape.  Then I did the black shading, followed by the waters shading, followed by a new shading technique that Nick had taught me!:)  After that,  I highlighted the petals with white, and then we were done!  We always have great chats so love tattooing Craig, and we were both really happy with the way they turned out and I can’t wait to see them healed to see the shading, but I’m super excited because I can see how the leg sleeve is going to look like now, and I just want to do more! :) Craig was sick and was going to cancel his appointment but as he is a real trooper pulled through for me and I want to say big big thank you!:)

Well as you guys can see big grins all round so I am super happy!  I can’t wait till next week :)
